How do I become a Sheriff?
A sheriff is a court official appointed by the Minister for Justice and Constitutional Development after the following process has been concluded:
- A vacant position will occur as a result of the resignation of, death of, removal of a sheriff from office or the sheriff become disable to function or to carry his/her. The position will be advertised by the Magistrate on the notice boards of the area of jurisdiction in which the position occurred and also as wide as possible to reach out to as many people as possible in as many languages as practically possible.
- Any person who wishes to apply for appointment as a sheriff shall complete form 1 and lodge the form with the magistrate concerned. Any person who applies for appointment as the sheriff shall, on the time, date and place determined by the magistrate with whom the application is lodged, appear before an advisory committee for interview purposes.
