Sheriffs’ Amendment Bill
The Sheriffs Amendment Bill has been tabled and, after close examination, it would appear that the following points must be considered by the profession:
- The current Board structure comprising 12 members is to be reduced to 11, made up of five sheriffs and six independent members from outside the Sheriffs’ Profession.
- Currently the Board has the authority to use up to 7.5% of the Fidelity Fund on management fees. Should the Board wish to change this percentage, it must be done with prior consultation of the Minister.
